Start with a name people can use
A useful domain is easy to hear, type, and remember. Keep spelling predictable, avoid unnecessary punctuation, and test the name in a sentence before making a shortlist. Consider how it appears in an email address as well as a browser bar.
Choose an extension deliberately
The extension can signal geography, community, or purpose, but it does not replace clear naming. Check eligibility rules and renewal costs for the exact extension. A name being searchable does not prove it is available or legally safe to use.
Check rights and conflicts
Search relevant trademark databases and business registries, and review similar names in your market. Domain registration does not grant trademark rights. If a name is central to a business, consult qualified counsel before committing.
Plan renewal and access
Use a monitored contact email, secure the registrar account, enable available multi-factor authentication, and assign responsibility for renewals. Keep a record of nameservers and important DNS records.
